Style Inspiration - Taylor Swift

Hey

So on Friday after a hard day at uni I was scanning through my Instagram feed and came across a photo posted by E! News that caught my eye.

E! said they were loving Taylor's fashion at the moment and I say I'd have to agree with them.

I love everything about the three outfits she is shown in and how simple and chic they are and can be perfect for both day and night.  For some reason I really have a thing for shirt collars and I especially love them on dresses which gives them a kind of private school/Parisian style look.  I also love blazers which gives an outfit a cool, sophisticated look and looks good with a dress, skirt or jeans.

With the third photo I LOVE her red boots which match her classic red lips which polishes off this classy look.

These three outfits are definitely examples of how I would love to dress on an every day basis and I hope one day I can.

Hope you enjoyed this post, if you have any style inspirations/icons feel free to comment.

NYX Collection

Hey

So last year I said I was going to do a post on what NYX pieces I got but never ended up doing it so here it is.

I've heard good things about this brand and it was only since last year that I had actually heard of it  as well as others which I am discovering as I try to learn more about make up and beauty.

One of the things that attracted my to this brand was how cheap it was as well as it being good quality make up.

Going in to buying I really wanted to get a blush as well as the Wonder Pencil.  The pencil is in medium and can be used for practically anything such being a eyeliner or a lip liner.  When looking at picking a blush I wasn't too sure of which one to get so I once again picked one with a nice name.  The blush is called Dusty Rose and is very nice as it's not too bright and adds a nice subtle rosiness to my cheeks.

While shopping I got distracted by the lipsticks and fell in love with a very nice red called Chaos.  I decided to get it as I'm a bit obsessed with red lipstick and I like it.  The colour is a nice rose/raspberry red and is creamy and goes on well.  My only problem is that with the shape of the tip its a bit hard for my to put on my lips so it would probably be wise to use a lip brush when applying.

Overall I really love what I got and there are a few other NYX products which I really want to get as well.

Hope you enjoyed this post. Since I'm in the middle of Summer School I probably won't be blogging as much, but I'll try to do at least one post a week. xoxox

Sorry

Hey

Sorry it's been a while since my last post.  Turns out Summer School is waaaaaaaay more stressful than I thought so I haven't had time to work on a new post yet.

I'll try to do one tomorrow or at least by the weekend.

Thanks x

Henry VIII

Hey

So Wednesday was my first day back at uni (for some reason I decided to do summer school) and was thrown into the chaos of assignments and study (oh joy).

I'm doing an Art History paper on 'The Art of Majesty' which is how English Kings and Queens from Henry VIII to Charles I displayed their power, wealth and to legitimize both themselves and their future heirs.

The first lecture was focused on Henry VIII and the portraits of him done by Hans Holbein in which the image that was created became the model for future portraits of the king and made him the most recognisable monarch even still today.

This is one of the numerous portraits of the king all of which have the exact same pose and pretty much the same outfit.  Henry wanted to show himself as a powerful, magnificent King and show his virility.  Its is clear that Henry is an imposing figure with him being depicted with very broad shoulders as well as the added bulky luxurious coat he is wearing.  The fur lining as well as the material used for his clothes shows that he is wealthy and is therefore able to pay for armies which contributes to his overall power.

Hope you all enjoyed this post, will possibly do a beauty post next time, hope you all have a great weekend x.

Nail Polish Collection

Hey

So as well as makeup and Art History my other big obsession is nail polish and I always love painting my nails a different colour depending on how I'm feeling.

I haven't really got a large number of them and a limited amount of colours but like with makeup I plan to expand by collection and get a range of colours.

As you can see most of them are O.P.I which I am obsessed with are the first brand I look at when wanting to get some new colours.

My two favourites are the two in the front; 'Big Apple Red' and 'Strawberry Margarita'.  These two are my favourites as they are both bright and fun colours and I especially love the intensity of the red.  I also love the names of the polishes and picked this pink especially because of the name.

I also love China Glaze's 'Eyes like Sapphires'; one because of the name and two is a nice deep blue and it also has what looks to be like glitter which makes it sparkle.

From other blogs I've heard some great things about Essie nail polish so I definitely want to include some colours in my collection.

Hope you enjoyed this post and if you have any other brands of nail polish that you swear by feel free to comment x.

Mini Christmas Beauty Haul

Hey

Hope you all had a good Christmas and New Years, have not been blogging much but this year I'll try to more consistent (here's hoping).

Thought I'd share what I got for Christmas beauty wise.  I only got two products but they were ones I really wanted.

As you can see I got a Revlon Colourstay Foundation and Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder.  I've heard really good things about these two products and wanted to try them out and add to my fairly beginners collection of makeup.

The Pressed Powder is transparent as I didn't want to risk having a powdery white face and I just wanted to neatly cover my foundation; now I just need a powder brush to properly apply it.

The Foundation is in the shade 240 Medium Beige and is for Combination/Oily Skin.  While picking a shade I was tossing up between this shade and one that was one shade lighter.  I picked this one hoping it would look good and it does.  The formula is really smooth and goes on easy with my XO Beauty flattop brush.  The formula is also very yellowy (not sure that's a word) which was very apparent when I compared it to my Rimmel foundation which is in the shade 303 True Nude.  While the Rimmel is more skin toned the Revlon looks better on me I think as the Rimmel kind of made me look darker.

Hope you enjoyed this post, next week I start summer school for uni so it will be nice to get out of the house and do something.  Hopefully the paper will inspire some more art focused posts as I get back into study mode.
