Something old and something new is definitely a theme with the books I'm planning to read this month. The two from Hachette NZ are the same ones I mentioned last month while the two from HarperCollins NZ haven't been mentioned on the blog yet. I'm sure I am not the only one who has noticed the drop in temperature recently, while I hate the cold I do love to snuggle up and read. Here's hoping it will get me reading more.
The Firemaker by Peter May*
I've nearly finished this and have really enjoyed it. The story spans over five days or so but it feels longer. Either that's down to me reading over a long period of time, the long chapters or how a lot has happened in the story. The characters also mentioned this so I can't be the only one.
Perfect by Cecilia Ahern*
This is the sequel to Flawed which I reviewed last year. The story follows Celestine who lives in this strange world where there are 'rules' which people have to follow. If people do not they are physically branded as 'flawed' and are outcasts. Celestine broke the rules in helping a flawed person and as such gets herself branded. In this book, she is on the run with powerful people coming after her. She has a secret which could bring the entire Flawed system crumbling and has to decide whether to save herself or all of the Flawed people. I enjoyed the first book to am looking forward to seeing how the story progresses.
The Fourth Sacrifice by Peter May*
I summarised this in last months post but now that I'm almost at the end of The Firemaker I am interested to know why Li & Campbell's relationship is strained given how close they are in this book.
The End of OZ by Danielle Paige*
This is the fourth book in the Dorothy Must Die series. I reviewed the third book, Yellow Brick War, last year. Yellow Brick War was the first book of the series that I've read, the first two are on my to-read list, and I really enjoyed it. From memory I think I found it really easy to read and I loved the twist the classic tale of Oz. The series follows Amy, who like Dorothy, is from Kansas and was swept up by a tornado and taken to Oz. In this book, the Yellow Brick Road is leading her to the dark world of Ev where there is a new powerful enemy in the Nome King. As I enjoyed the previous book I'm confident I'll love this one too.
